The Puma has been specifically designed for the public safety market, to provide a fully featured yet user friendly personal radio to meet the needs of the UK emergency service. Compact and lightweight in design the Puma has a minimum number of controls, all of which are easy to use in the most difficult of environments.A large, reversible, illuminated display set at a 45° angle provides the user with clear, easy to read information, including a switch-on identity banner and alphanumeric channel alias.
A text/paging facility is incorporated in the Puma, which allows the unit to be used in a pager/2-way way radio mode. Important messages can be sent by code to the Puma, which will convert them into text messages that are displayed in the window of the portable. This feature is ideal for shopping mail security systems where specific information can be sent by text rather that using speech. Flexible PC programming allows control over a wide range of signalling features, including encryption programming per channel, man-down facility, and a beacon function that allows remote control of a stolen or lost radio, for direction finding purposes.

Cleartone RangerDesigned specifically to meet the ever more stringent needs of the emergency services, the newly enhanced version of the Ranger series of mobiles is a systems radio with a wide range of new features, including internal mobile data functions, larger alphanumeric display, fully illuminated soft-key buttons, internal GPS vehicle location option and mobile voting capability.
The radio has a 356 channel capacity and the capability of being programmed with a large number of selcall features, including status updating, text message display, over the air stun, revive and kill modes, and a beacon function for locating stolen vehicles. It is supplied with a fist microphone as standard, with optional telephone handset or covert speaker-mic, interfaces are available to standard hands-free systems, mobile data printers and external keyboards. Options include a range of encryption devices.
The Ranger is available as a one-piece dash-mount radio, a remote mount transceiver with compact control head, and in addition to ease of installation, the Ranger has also been designed to be safe, with smooth curves and no sharp edges in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations, reducing the possibility of injury to the operator. A desktop mains operated version of the Ranger series is also available, together with a transportable version, supplied with internal sealed lead-acid battery, leather carrying case and cigar lighter adapter lead for optional 12v do working.

The local base station version of the Ranger mobile is a flexible software controlled radio suitable for a wide range of applications and is available in VHF or UHF bands, with AM-FM or FM versions. Fully programmable, the Ranger base station can be configured in most cases for up to 256 channels with a variety of CTCSS and selcal signalling features, including a "who called" identification system, which will indicate in the display the identity of the calling party. The optional keyboard version allows the operator to selectively call individual mobiles and permits the use of DTMF dialling. Designed for desk-top operation, and powered by ac mains or 12v dc, the Ranger base station can be supplied with either a desk microphone, fist microphone or telephone handset. For busy environments a headset and footswitch system is also available. The range of options include a variety of speech encryption systems, a standby power supply, and interfaces to mobile data and despatcher units. For remote or special applications there is an additional range of 19" rack mount base stations which can be configured to customer requirements, together with control systems that can be configured to operate over 2 or 4 wire lines with a variety of signalling options.
