This page is intended to bring that odd piece of information that doesn't fit anywhere else on our website, or is worth highlighting. Sometimes things that you have forgotten suddenly stand out as being most important, like the Atex directive that has been in operation for some time, and perhaps you hadn't realised.
|
| | | The Avo Mk 8/9 for instance, that has been an old friend to most of us is now no longer available as new. So have a browse through our pages, and if you think that there is something you consider important, and that can be beneficial to others, please send us an email.

| Intrinsically Safe instruments have always been a problem to source. Since the Atex regulations came into force, that task had been made even more difficult. For some situations, like the petrochemical industry, the area of most concern has been insulation testing up to 500 volts.
One instrument originally made by Edgcumbe Peebles in 1963 was the Metrohm 7 which was, and still is, in wide use. Although the Metrohm 7 is Intrinsically Safe,
| | | |
it is not Atex approved and therefore limited for safe use in Atex areas.
We have received numerous enquiries for an Atex approved insulation tester capable of testing up to 500 Volts.
Glanford Electronics are now marketing the ΩMegaSafe ISO 1Ex instrument. It has three voltage levels of insulation testing at 30, 100, and 500 volts, with current levels of 64µA, 200µA and 1mA.
The ΩMegaSafe is a digital instrument, IP65 safe, and housed in a sturdy ABS case with an unbreakable display cover. See our ΩMegaSafe page for more details. |

Eneo has been an established brand for closed circuit television for over ten years. Their comprehensive product range has the right solution for nearly every requirement, regardless of whether you are seeking a very efficient video surveillance system, want to automate your surveillance system with analysis functions or need a camera with effective vandal protection.
Video surveillance in public transport, at schools, in prisons or shops places special challenges on the equipment used, as cameras may be manipulated, destroyed or could have their function impaired in another way. Of course, it is not possible to provide one hundred percent protection to equipment, but the use of vandalism-resistant
|
| | | dome cameras can effectively counter threats. The metal housing with reinforced polycarbonate domes withstand impacts up to 1000 kilograms. But the design of the dome cameras also makes them less vulnerable against impacts compared to usual cameras. The smooth, rounded shape further makes it difficult to restrict the camera's field of view. Large security systems often have the requirement to network the buildings management system to video surveillance so that the entire system can be controlled by a single user interface. Mixed-type functions such as video-surveillance interaction with intercom or lighting systems are therefore directly available. Eneo equipment carries a three year return to manufacturer warranty.

- Extension of the Regulations to cover new ‘special locations’: exhibition shows, photovoltaic (pv) power supply systems, floor and heating systems, marinas and fairgrounds and amusements parks.
- Re-numbering and re-structuring of chapters to align with international standards.
- The Regulations move from being the 16th to the 17th edition a major shift in name and perception of its contents. The 16th edition has been in place since 1991.
