Rudolph Tietzsch test equipment, was founded in 1950 in Castrop-Rauxel, Germany and initially specialised in precision mechanics and apparatus construction. The Tietzsch company, built flow meters for use with gases, either as single instruments or in small series.

In 1953 Tietzsch, developed a safety voltage tester with a precision display, this was designed with a new type of dust-proof rubber casing and was known as the Spannungs- Prufball (Voltage Test Ball). It achieved rapid recognition among heavy industry and energy suppliers as a result of its reliability and highly safe operation.

The success of the Voltage Test Ball led to the Tietzsch decision to expand production to include other test and measuring equipment for use in electrical engineering. Since 1980 this has led to the development of new products which incorporate digital technology. The Tietzsch test equipment Variosafe multimeter became standard equipment for mining electricians working underground.

Today Tietzsch, develop and manufacture the following product ranges at its factory, in Ennepetal Germany; VDE certified voltage testers, including the Multisafe DSP4 , high voltage testers up to 36000 V, telescopic voltage testers for overhead lines, intrinsically safe measuring equipment. Tietzsch, are noted for their ΩMegasafe ISO 1Ex ATEX approved insulation tester, the only ATEX approved insulation tester, we know of, for mining and chemistry applications and resistance measuring equipment.
